W/P played in Wilcox/Hildreth tourney

The Wauneta/Palisade Basketball Teams traveled to Wilcox for a holiday basketball tournament on Dec. 29-30. The girls finished third and the boys finished in fourth.
GIRLS
In the first round game, the girls faced the Giltner-Harvard Hornets, (6-3). The Broncos started slow, falling behind by nine in the first quarter and had to play catch-up for the rest of the game. The Broncos cut the lead to eight at the half, 16-24.
In the second half the Broncos kept closing the gap, but ran out of time before they could catch the Hornets, losing a close 41-42 game.

In the consolation game on Tuesday, the Broncos dominated Wilcox-Hildreth, (0-10). The Broncos held the Falcons to single digit scoring in all four quarters.
After leading 27-9 at the half, the Broncos finished the game with a 56-22 win and claimed third place in the Tourney.

BOYS
The boys opened the Tournament playing the Kenesaw Blue Devils, (4-3).
The Broncos kept it close in the first quarter but trailed 13-19. The Blue Devil defense stiffened after that, holding the Broncos to just 16 points over the next three quarters and taking a 29-68 lopsided win.

That dropped the boys to the consolation bracket to face the Giltner/Harvard Hornets, (4-5). The Broncos played a better game in Tuesday’s match-up, but fell to the Hornets, 36-43 for a fourth place finish in the Tournament and dropping the boys record to 1-8 for the season.
