W/P Football Team suffers first loss

    Friday, Oct. 3, the W/P Broncos traveled to Sumner for an afternoon football game against the SEM Mustangs. W/P entered the game with a perfect 4-0 record, while SEM held onto a 3-1 record.
    It was a high scoring affair, with both teams moving the ball down the field, seemingly at will. The Mustangs got on the board first on the opening drive of the game, scoring on a 45 yard pass completion. The two-point conversion was good and the Mustangs lead 0-8.
    Kreyton Wiese fielded the ensuing kick and returned it to the SEM one yard line. Wiese ran in for the score on the first play from scrimmage. Dravin Miner’s kick was no good, leaving the score 6-8.
    The next drive, the Mustangs scored on an 11 yard run and converted the two-point attempt to lead 6-16.
    The Broncos answered back with Kameran McCrumb going through a big hole in the line for a 79 yard score. Miner’s kick was no good, bringing the score to 12-16.
    The Mustangs added one more 48 yard touchdown run in the first quarter and added a successful two-point conversion to lead 12-24.
    The second quarter saw the Broncos score two more touchdowns, while only converting on one extra point, while the Mustangs had three scores with one extra point kick and two, two-point conversions, to lead at the half 25-47.
    In the third quarter, it was all Mustangs, scoring on runs of 44 and 48 yards, while holding the Broncos out of the endzone. In the fourth quarter, Wiese added an 18 yard touchdown run, but it wasn’t enough  and the Broncos fell 33-63 to SEM.
    Next action will Friday, Oct. 10, when the Broncos travel to Bartley to take on the undefeated Southwest Roughriders.
