W/P hosted the Paxton Tigers Friday, Sept. 26. The Tigers came in with a one and two record, coming off a 56-6 beatdown of Minatare Sept. 12. Both teams had a bye week coming into this game.
In the first quarter, the Broncos scored first on a 19 yard completion from Wyatt Hilbert to Kreyton Wiese. The kick by Ayden Baker failed and W/P lead 6-0.
Paxton drove down the field and tied the game on a one yard run. The two point conversion failed, tying the game at six.
Hilbert connected on another long pass, this time to Baker for a 26 yard score. Two point conversion failed and the Broncos lead 12-6. That lead was short-lived when the Panthers ran the ensuing kick-off back 76 yards for a score. The kick was good and Paxton had the lead 12-13.
The Broncos drove right down the field, taking the lead back on a one yard run from Wiese. Bakers kick was no good, so the Broncos led 18-13.
The Tigers responded with a drive of their own, running a touchdown in from 30 yards out. The kick was good and Paxton led 18-20. That would be the last time the Bronco defense allowed the Tigers to score.
Still in the second quarter, the Broncos added touchdowns from Wiese and Kameran McCrumb, from eight and two yards respectively. Wiese was good on both extra points, leaving the score, 32-20 at the half.
In the second half, it was all Broncos. Wiese scored on rushes of 46, seven and one yard in the third quarter. Wiese added one extra point kick, Baker ran in a two-point conversion and McCrumb missed an extra point kick, increasing the Broncos lead to 53-20.
In the fourth quarter, McCrumb scored on a 23 yard run, but missed the extra point, and Aaden Wheeler scored from 45 yards out, with Emiliano Marquezhoyos adding the extra point, bringing the finalscore to 66-20.
A big difference in the game was third and fourth down efficiency. The Broncos converted on 6-11 third downs and 3-3 fourth downs. Paxton was 2-9 on third down and 0-4 on fourth.
The Broncos rushed for 276 yards and had 62 yards in the air, for a total of 338 yards. The Tigers rushed for 135, passed for 114 for a 249 yard total.
    W. Hilbert had two interceptions, A. Baker and N. Hiett each had one.
