WP boys looking for win at RPAC

The Wauneta-Palisade boys’ basketball team will keep looking for some consistent offense as the team takes on its upcoming conference opponents.
WP will host Paxton (8-4) Thursday before traveling to Paxton Saturday for the first round of the RPAC tournament.
Wauneta-Palisade is the seventh seed in the West Division and will face No. 2 seed Dundy County-Stratton at 12:45 p.m. MT in the West gym. Second round games will be Tuesday in Wallace.
Paxton and Wallace both have channels on striv.tv for fans looking to stream WP’s contests.
Southern Valley is the top seed in the East Division. Bertrand was second in the East followed by Medicine Valley, Cambridge, Arapahoe, Alma and Southwest.
The Broncos played two non-conference games last week.
WP opened weekend action with a trip to Perkins County (6-8).
With six points from Braxton McKinney and a three pointer by Grant Walker, the Broncos trailed 11-18 at the end of the first quarter.
McKinney made all of WP’s second quarter field goals, totaling 12 of the Broncos’ 14 points in the quarter.  
Perkins County hit a half court three pointer to leave WP trailing 25-40 at halftime.
McKinney and Laiden Lawler made all of WP’s second half field goals. McKinney finished with 27 points in the contest. Lawler scored seven points, all in the second half.
Garrett Hanna led the Broncos with six rebounds.
WP hosted Garden County (4-8) the following night.
It was a competitive game. After ties at 2-2, 7-7 and 9-9, a late three pointer from the Eagles gave Garden County a 12-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Ruel Malcolm made all four of his free throw attempts in the second quarter. Paired with a three pointer from Grant Walker and floater from McKinney, WP was within one point, 19-20, at halftime.
