W/P Boys B-Ball pick up another win

It has been a long season for the Wauneta/Palisade Boys Basketball Team. After dropping another game to Medicine Valley, 46-63, on Thursday Feb. 6, the boys handed the Sutherland Sailors a loss when they visited Wauneta on Feb. 7, 63-40. That broke a twelve game losing streak.
On Thursday against the Raiders, the second quarter put the Broncos in a hole they couldn’t get out of. The teams were even through the first quarter, with Medicine Valley holding onto a one point lead , 11-12 at the end of the first. The Broncos couldn’t buy a basket in the second, falling behind 16-30 at the half.
In the second half, the Broncos stuck with the Raiders in scoring, but were unable to cut into the 14 point lead, falling 46-63.
Nathan Hiett scored 15, Aden Acton added 14 and Ashton Wheeler 10. Greyden Sutherland had 10 rebounds and Acton pulled down nine.
On Friday, Feb. 7, the Broncos welcomed the Sutherland Sailors to town.
The Broncos jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, scoring 18 in the opening quarter and holding the Sailors to just six. By halftime the lead had grown to 28-11.
The Broncos really turned it on in the third period, pouring in 25 more points, while holding the Sailors to 11.
Content to run clock in the fourth, the Broncos won big, 63-40 to get the monkey off thier back. Grayden Sutherland lead the scoring for the Broncos with 21and had six rebounds.
Freshman Nathan Hiett added 10, Ashton Wheeler 9 and Aden Acton 9. Nathan Blackman had six boards, while Wheeler and Acton had five each.
