W/P B-Ball splits with Cheylin

    Tuesday, Jan. 6, the Broncos welcomed Cheylin to town for basketball.
    The girls got the night started with a victory over Cheylin 60-50. It was a much closer game than the score shows. After being tied after the first quarter, The Broncos pulled out to a one point lead at halftime, 33-32.
    The third quarter was all defense, with the Broncos scoring six to Cheylin’s four. In the fourth quarter, the Broncos out-scored Cheylin 21-14 to give the Broncos a 10 point win.
    That raised the girls record to 6-4 on the season and gives them a three game winning streak.
    On Friday, the girls traveled to Trenton for games with Hitchcock Co. The Falcons started the game with the hot shooting, doubling the score of the Broncos in the first quarter, 9-18.
    The Broncos bounced back in the second quarter to just trail by three, 23-26. After both teams scored 12 in the third, the Falcons out scored the Broncos by six in the fourth to take the 45-54 win, dropping the Broncos record to 6-5.
    On Saturday the Broncos welcomed the Southwest Roughriders to town for games. In a very close game, the Broncos took the win, 59-56, improving their record to 7-5.
    In the boys game, the 1-8 Broncos stuck with Cheylin throughout the game but came up just short, losing the contest 48-55.
    Aaden Wheeler was the Broncos leading scorer with 12 while Nathan Hiett, Wyatt Hilbert and Ayden Baker all added 10.

    In Friday’s game against the Hitchcock Co. Falcons. It was all Hitchcock Co. The Falcon defense held the Broncos to just 22 points in the game, while putting up 67 of their own.
