Weather impacting golf season

    The big winner of this year’s Chase County golf season appears to be the weather.
    Coach Jeff Gleisberg said he’s never seen a spring like this. While they have been able to get some decent practice days but meet days always seem to be terrible.
    It’s forced several meets to be rescheduled and the Perkins County meet set for last week was cancelled.
    Losing meets like that keeps his varsity team from getting valuable meet experience.
    Actually, the jayvee golfers have played in more meets than the varsity so far this season. Gleisberg said the varsity has only played in two meets.
    The Garden County meet was set for Tuesday but the rain moved it back to Wednesday, which resulted in better weather.
    Chase County’s meet was set for April 14 but they were able to get it in last Wednesday.
    There, the Longhorns finshed sixth in the seven team field. Austin Laird and Clay Meeske led the Longhorns with 105s.
    At the Medicine Valley meet in Curtis April 12, Brady Gittlein led the team with a 113. The team finished seventh in the nine-team field.
