Wauneta golf team takes first in Veterans Memorial scramble

    A two-day, three-person golf scramble and fundraiser was held July 6-7 at Enders Lake Golf Course to benefit the Chase County Veterans Memorial.
    The winning team in the championship flight was Lee Denker, Matt Borchers and Matt Klima, all from Wauneta. They had a two-day total of 130.
    Coming in second was Rick Einspahr and Rogan Einspahr of Wauneta and Joe Humphrey of Palisade with a two-day total of 138.
    Two teams tied for first flight honors with a total of 150 each.
    The first team was Jeff Castor, Imperial, Jay Castor and George McNamara, both from Colorado.
    The second team was Robert Garza, Loveland, Colorado,  Josh Garza, Scottsbluff and Art Luhrs, Wauneta.

Gun raffle
    The winning raffle ticket for a Henry 30-30 rifle was won by Chad Oxford. He then donated the rifle back to be auctioned off. Kerry and Sasheena Shinn won the bid in the auction.
    There was also a calcutta and a dinner, silent and live auctions plus door prizes.
