Wauneta Broncos place four wrestlers at conference meet

The Wauneta-Palisade Broncos are entering the home stretch of the wrestling season riding a wave of momentum after placing four of seven wrestlers in the top four of the RPAC meet.
“It was very exciting to have four place in the top four. We have always been a team with good motivation, so it’s nice when that hard work pays off,” said WP Coach Danny Schluckebier.
Ethan Carl finished second at 170 pounds. Carl went 3-2 in the six man pool, including beating 10-3 Kaydan Hunt of Maxwell by fall to earn the tie breaker for second place.

Cole Hamilton, the sixth seed out of 10 at 220 pounds, placed third after a 4-1 day. Hamilton’s only loss was to 24-10 Clayton Hardy of Southwest in their five man pool. Hamilton beat Alma’s Andrew Graf (22-12) for third place. Hamilton beat the fourth ranked wrestler in Class D, Cambridge’s Julien Grindle, in his first match of the day.
Conner Bryner placed fourth at 152 pounds. Bryner went 2-2, losing to 26-2 Ayden Molzahn of Alma in the semifinals and 18-8 Trevor Brown of SV in the third place match. Molzahn is ranked fourth in Class D with RPAC champion Matt VanPelt ranked second.
