Varsity volleyball adds another win on straight set Yuma victory

Chase County took a straight set win from Yuma, Colorado Sept. 10 in the Lady Longhorns first home volleyball appearance.
The win upped Chase County’s record to 4-3 prior to a week-long break which ended Tuesday this week.
Yuma handed Chase County a pair of losses the past two seasons, but this year, the victory went the other way in three straight, 25-11, 25-19 and 25-23.
Coach Sam Kennedy noted, due to graduation, Yuma lost a lot of good players from its two-time state runner-up team.
She said her team did better last week playing strong throughout the match, and not letting themselves get into a hole that had been an issue in their three losses earlier.
The team let down a bit in the third set, allowing Yuma to close in, but Chase County held on for the two-point set win that gave them the match.
“We started strong, and we stayed strong” against Yuma, she said.
