Two Longhorns bring home titles from Sidney

Two Longhorns came home with individual titles from the 18-team Sidney/Bridgeport Invitational wrestling meet Saturday.
Junior Trevor Peterson claimed his second title in as many weeks at 170. He was joined by senior Evan Fisher who brought home his first title of the season after a second place finish at Southern Valley.
Coach Matt Vlasin said it was a long day for his wrestlers. Normally, the jayvee meet is run as a separate meet in Sidney’s second gym.
However, Vlasin said one team with a lot of jayvee wrestlers dropped out so Sidney ran the entire meet in one gym.
With the change in format, Vlasin said a wrestler’s first match was really key.
Whoever won their first match moved forward in the championship bracket, with fourth being the worst they could place.
