Swim team practice to start soon; sign up Thursday

    Dust off your swimsuits and get your fishes ready for the pool.
    Imperial Swim Team Coaches Karra Meeske and Kristi McNair will be at the pool today (Thursday) from 4 to 6 p.m. to sign up youths for the swim team.
    McNair said they will probably start practice the last week in May, in preparation for their first meet on June 2.
    “We like to give them a week or so before that first meet,” McNair said.
    Practices this summer will be held over the lunch hour, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Fridays.
    “Generally we’ve have 35-40 kids the past couple years. The highest we’ve had in the past is around 60,” McNair said.
    “We’ve kind of trickled off since then, which is good because that got to be too many kids to fit in the pool,” she added.
