Summer baseball, softball to start games end of May
It’s time for popcorn and Cracker Jacks.
Area youths started practice for summer baseball and softball in the city of Imperial program the first week of May and will start games on May 28.
Ryan Wisnieski says there are about 130 kids out for the ball programs this year, not including legion players.
Wisnieski said Tri-County league games should be done by July 4.
There were not enough youths signed up to have a junior girls’ softball league this year, he said.
Others involved with summer ball organization include Bruce Peterson in charge of organizing teams and Carl Zuege, who will be in charge of field work, chalk and mowing.
Wisnieski will be organizing umpires for games, too. Volunteers can contact him.
