Sports physicals waived for some athletes in 2020-21

Incoming seventh, ninth graders must still undergo physicals

Students who’ll be involved in sports and cheerleading at Chase County Schools normally need to have a physical before they can participate.
Due to coronavirus concerns, students who’ll be entering 8th grade, and high school’s grades 10-12 next year have had the physical requirements waived.
The physicals that were on file for 2019-20 will remain valid next year for those students, said Troy Hauxwell, CCS Activities Director, in his report at last week’s CCS board of education meeting.
He said the physicals were waived for the grade 10-12 students in Nebraska by the NSAA’s sports medicine advisory committee. CCS will do the same for the incoming eighth graders who had full physicals last year, he said.
Hauxwell emphasized that incoming seventh and ninth graders this fall will still be required to complete a physical as usual.
