Softball numbers up; 19 on 2019 fall roster

First home game will be Aug. 30

The Chase County Schools Longhorn softball team has a few weeks of practice under their belts going into their first game of the season at Southern Valley on Tuesday.
Head Coach Denise Smith said practice has been going well for the Lady Longhorns.
“Weather has cooperated and the girls are getting used to each other,” Smith said. “I’m always anxious for the season to start.”
There are 19 girls on this season’s roster, including three seniors, six juniors, four sophomores and six freshmen.
“We didn’t lose anyone to graduation,” Smith said, “so it’s another year of experience on the girls that I hope will show this year.”
The softball team is up from just 13 on the roster last year.
