Softball clinic stresses fundamentals

Fifteen girls participated in Tuesday’s softball clinic in Imperial at Schroeder Park conducted by coaching staff and players from the University of Nebraska-Kearney (UNK). The clinic stressed fundamentals, both offensive and defensive. Pictured top, UNK Head Softball Coach Holly Carnes works with local players on fielding techniques, while Asst. Coach Stevie Stutzman, below, goes through a defensive drill. Four of the participants who are pitchers and catchers stayed on for an extra session on those positions. Also on hand from UNK for the clinic were Asst. Coach Kellee Vornhagen and her daughter, Mo, who’ll be a freshman softball player this fall at UNK. CCS Coach Denise Smith said the high school softball team will be attending the UNL team camp in July. (Johnson Publications photos)
