Shorthorn boys take four of six Ogallala games

    On the home court in Imperial Jan. 21, Chase County’s junior high boys’ team won four of the six games they hosted with Ogallala.
    Both seventh and eighth grade teams had A, B and C games.
Eighth grade
    Chase County’s B team took a decisive win, but the A and C teams came up short in the eighth grade contests.
    Chase County was held to single-digit quarter scoring in the A game against Ogallala, losing 18-57.
    On the board for Chase County were Jensen Olsen 8, Easton Fries 6, Zane Mays 2 and Zach Herbert 2.
    It was a 37-12 win for the Shorthorn B team, with six players scoring. They were led by James McArthur 13. Also scoring were Fries 8, Olsen 6, Mason Wallin 4, Herbert 4 and Mays 2.
    A big seven-point fourth quarter for Ogallala lifted them to a close 14-12 win over Chase County in the C game.
    Jason Nelson and Mason Tyerman scored four each for the Shorthorns, while Braxton Maris and Walker Mollendor scored two apiece.
Seventh grade
    Chase County’s seventh grade teams won all three against Ogallala, and by wide margins.
    The A team took a 46-10 victory. Scoring were Jacob Klooz 12, Sergio Quintana 12, Tristan Jablonski 11, Luis Co 4, Camron Lempke 4 and Kole Clevenger 3.
    In B action, the CCS seventh graders won 52-6. Max Schilke recorded 27 to lead the team. Others on the board were Malachi Christensen 9, Carson Terryberry 8, Thomas Reeves 6 and Juan Juarez 2.
    The C team won 32-11. Chase County scorers were Bradley Speaker 12, Evan Tomky 6, Brayan Reyes 4, Terryberry 4, Isaac Stretesky 2, Conner Tyerman 2 and Gavin Wisnieski 2.
    The teams travel to Sutherland today (Thursday), where games start at 3 p.m. MT. On Tuesday, Chase County hosts Hershey for games starting at 4 p.m.
