Seniors take two from Elwood-Eustis; lose to Cozad

Imperial’s seniors finished with a 2-1 showing the past week, winnings two at home Sunday against Elwood-Eustis, while dropping one at Cozad June 5.
Despite the loss, the seniors still hold an 8-2 record as they head into a little less hectic week of games.
At Cozad last week, offense was hard to come by as Imperial managed just five singles, while Cozad hit 12 in the 10-2 loss.
It didn’t start well for Imperial as Cozad got things moving early on a Kalen Gibbons three-run homer in the first.
Cozad also scored two in the second and four in the third, taking a 9-0 lead before Imperial was on the board.
A single by Ryan Bernhardt in the fourth and another from Nolan Burrell in the fifth scored Imperial’s only two runs.
Imperial also stranded seven on the base pads.
Bennett Bauerle got the start for Imperial, striking out one, walking four, while giving up five runs on six hits in two innings.
Tysen Lempke came in on relief, as he struck out three, walking none, while also giving up six hits and five runs.
