Senior Legion starts its tourney Sunday

    Imperial’s senior Legion team will enter post-season tournament play on Sunday.
    The Mid-Nebraska League west division tournament is set for July 26-29, with games played at the top-seeded teams’ home field. East division teams are also playing their tournament the same dates.
    The bracket/seedings were released Wednesday morning, and Coach Bruce Peterson  will take his No. 5 seed senior team, with a 3-5 record, to No. 4 Holdrege, who has a 5-8 record, for a 1 p.m. MT game Sunday.
    If Imperial wins its opener, they will travel to top-seeded Ogallala (12-3) July 28 for a 6 p.m. game.
    Other teams in the west division tournament and their seedings are No. 2 Gothenburg (4-4) and No. 3 Broken Bow (7-8).
    The west division winner will play the east winner in a league championship game July 31. The west will host that championship game this year.
    There are no Legion-sponsored district or state tournaments this year.
