Scouts compete to capture awards in Pinewood Derby

Cub Scouts Pack 199 and Boy Scouts Troop 200 participated in the annual Pinewood Derby on Sunday.
Approximately 30 cars were entered in the derby. There were as many different car designs represented on the race track as the scouts’ imaginations could muster.
Winners in the Cub Scouts category were Taylor Maddux, first place; Alex Nelson, second place and Best of Show; Bryce Mandeville, Design Award; and Josh Kunkel, Mayor’s Choice.
Boy Scout winners were Ian Moreno, first place; and Brice Vitosh, second place and Design Award.
The Father/Business first place winner and Design award went to Jason Kunkel. Second place winners were Faye and Karolyn Hiykel.
“We had a great day for the derby and a great turnout with plenty of fun,” said Nate Vitosh, Boy Scout leader.
Vitosh wanted to give a big thank you to the derby sponsors: Ivan Moreno, Jason Kunkel, Farm Bureau Financial Services, Fay and Karolyn Hiykel, Little Longhorns Daycare and Mayor Dwight Coleman.
