Sandmans first team RPAC selections

The Wauneta-Palisade volleyball squad placed five members on the Republican Plains Activities Conference West Division volleyball team, including first teamers Haylee and Alexa Sandman.
    H. Sandman finished third in Class D2 kills behind state champion Diller-Odell’s Karli Heidemann and fellow RPAC first-team member Jaycee Widener. H. Sandman was also 16th in blocks.
“Haylee is a stud hitter,” said WP Head Coach Terra Higgins.
“She has been so fun to coach these last four years.  I can’t wait to watch her play volleyball at the next level.”
    H. Sandman plans to play for Hastings College.
    A. Sandman was 15th in Class D2 service aces with 51 and 19th in digs. She finished the season with a 90.5 serving percentage.
“Alexa’s dedication to ‘no choice defense’ is like none other,” Higgins said.
“The way she sacrifices her body on the court to save a ball is amazing.  There aren’t many balls that she doesn’t get a touch on which makes her such a valuable libero.”
Freshman Peyton Cox is on the second team after finishing the season with 116 kills.
Senior Payton Yearous finished 19th in Class D2 aces with 49 and was named to the honorable mention list, along with Cali Cox.
Higgins said she’s proud of the hard work and dedication her team put into the season and it’s great to see five of the team’s seven starters earn recognition.
