Reinke moves up in UNK Top 10 for mile

Chase County Schools graduate Destiny Reinke is making a name for herself on the Loper Track & Field team.
The 2017 CCS graduate is a junior at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Last year, Reinke was added to the UNK hall of fame for the mile, behind fellow CCS grad Michelle (Dill) May.
At that time she was sitting at No. 8. Reinke has moved up to No. 5 for the mile with a time of 5:01.76.
In other indoor track events, Reinke is in the top 10 in the 3,000m, the distance medley relay (DMR).
A DMR is made up of four legs with different distances, including 1200m, 400m, 800m and 1600m, in that order. The total distance run is 4000 meters, or close to 2.5 miles.

She’s not slowing down
Reinke also competed at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) championships Saturday in Pittsburg, Kansas where she placed in three events.
She took third in the mile with a time of 5:06.21 and fourth in the 3,000 meters, clocking in at 10:20.24.
Reinke also placed third in the DMR with three teammates, Plattsmouth senior April Graham, Funk sophomore Baylee Barnett and Ulysses sophomore Sinclare Fiala. The group had a time of 12:08.58, a new Loper record. Reinke ran the 1200m leg.
The qualifiers for the NCAA indoor championships will be announced later this week, with the meet scheduled for March 13-14 in Alabama.
“(Reinke) works hard and is a great competitor,” Coach Brady Bonsall said. “Her leadership is big asset to our team.”
Bonsall said he’s excited for the outdoor track season.
“(Reinke) will enter the season seventh on the UNK all-time top 10 list in the 1500m,” he said.
