PWG team wins junior Legion baseball title

    PWG, a combined team representing Palmer, Wolbach and Greeley, advanced through the Class C junior Legion baseball tournament without a loss in its five games, en route to the championship.
    Last week’s tournament, held July 21-25, included Imperial’s juniors in the eight-team bracket. Imperial lost its first two games and was eliminated on July 22.
    PWG defeated Syracuse in the finals last Thursday, 16-1,  after scattering 17 hits. Syracuse tallied three hits in the lopsided loss.
    Syracuse was the first team Imperial battled in the tournament and lost an 8-1 game to them on July 21. Imperial was eliminated the next day by Pierce.
    Imperial finished its season at 24-5.
