Chase County Schools graduate Josie Peterson will be competing at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Indoor Track and Field Championships early next month.
Peterson, a 2017 CCS grad and the daughter of Bruce and Crystal Peterson of Imperial, is a junior at Hastings College.
This will be Peterson’s second trip to the indoor national championships, where she will again compete in the pole vault.
At the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Indoor Championships in Mitchell, South Dakota last week, Peterson had a vault of 3.52m, which placed her sixth and automatically qualified her for nationals.
She was one of four Hastings pole vaulters who placed in the top 10.
“(Josie) is a hard worker, very dedicated and a great teammate,” Hastings Track & Field Coach Ryan Mahoney said. “It’s really nice to see her meet her goals.”
The NAIA indoor championships will take place in Brookings, South Dakota March 5-7.
