Peterson first at SV; team third

Junior wrestler Trevor Peterson claimed his first ever championship title in varsity action Friday at the Southern Valley Invitational.
After an opening round bye, Peterson pinned his way through the next four matches to earn the 170-lb. title.
Head Coach Matt Vlasin said Peterson “really stepped it up” for his first title.
Vlasin said Peterson put in a lot of hard work over the summer and has added a lot of muscle.
Peterson came into the season around 180 and wrestled off his weight in practice to slide in the 170 class.
Senior Evan Fisher got caught up in a move in the semifinal match at 195 to suffer his first loss of the season. He came back to finish third.
Senior Travis Rowley came into the season having never wrestled before. His first time on the mat came during the Garden County/Bridgeport triangular, wrestling at 285.
