Pee Wee 2 looking for season’s first win

Imperial Pee Wee 2 is 0-3 on the season, “But things are starting to click” said Coach Ryan Baker.
Imperial’s losses have gone to Ogallala 3, Imperial 1 and Ogallala 1 to start the season, and they also played an exhibition game Sunday against an older McCook team.
“McCook brought its Babe Ruth team (ages 13 to 14) down to scrimmage the Imperial 1 Pee Wee team and I thought it would give us some more time on the field,” Baker said.
Against McCook, Baker said his team scored three runs.
“At this point in the season I’m proud of the boys. They’re playing hard, they’re learning and getting better each game,” he said.
Through four games, Imperial 2 has scored a combined 14 runs, all  against older teams.
The team has combined for 24 stolen bases, with an on-base percentage at nearly the 600 mark.
Imperial 2 has thrown five pitchers so far this season.  Carter Leibbrandt and Easton Fries both threw near 80 percent strikes Sunday against McCook. Collin O’Neil, Traven Richardson and Tyrel Richardson have also thrown for Imperial 2 this season.
Imperial vs. Imperial
Imperial 2 fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 26-6 loss to Imperial 1 May 31.         Despite the loss, Imperial 2 collected 11 hits in the high-scoring affair, but Imperial 1 doubled that, tallying 22 on the way to victory.
Coach Baker said he was proud of his team for playing hard the rest of the game after a rough first inning.
