Longhorns wrap up golf season at districts

    The Chase County Longhorns wrapped up their golf season last week, competing the C5 district meet at Kimball’s Four Winds golf course.
    Coach Jeff Gleisberg said his golfers played well on a hard course.
    Austin Laird led the Longhorns with a 105. Brady Gittlein finished with a 119 and Clay Meeske tallied a 127.
    Gleisberg said he’s seen his golfers improve over the season but said there’s plenty of room for future improvement.
    With only three golfers at districts, the Longhorns did not have a team score.
    The meet was won by Kimball with a team score of 309. Junior Dillon Wise took medalist honors with a 73.
    Perkins County finished in second with a 342 which qualified them for this week’s state meet.
    Josh Johnston led the Plainsmen with a 78.
    Bridgeport claimed the third qualifying slot with a 361.
    The Class C state tournament was held at the Kearney Country Club. Play started Tuesday and concluded Wednesday.
