Longhorns tack on two more wins

The Longhorn basketball team raised their record to 5-2 last weekend at the Cabela’s Holiday Shootout.
The tournament was originally set to play Thursday, Friday and Saturday but was rescheduled to just Friday and Saturday due to the weather.
Head Coach Chris Bartels said it was mostly Beatrice and Superior who would have had trouble getting to Sidney Thursday since I-80 was closed.
“(Beatrice) would have been a really good game for us,” Bartels said. “It would have been a good barometer to see where we’re at.”
The Longhorns started the tournament off playing Mitchell on Friday.
Both teams were able to get an extra day of practice in last Thursday with the delay.
That extra practice helped the Longhorns, Bartels said.
“We got a really nice practice in Thursday,” he said. “We were able to prepare and go over stuff for Mitchell.”
The Longhorns had a high-scoring first half against Mitchell, with 23 in the first quarter and 20 in the second.
