Longhorns shut down Chadron Cardinals

The Chadron Cardinal defense could do little to keep the Chase County Longhorns out of the end zone Friday night.
Chase County rolled to a 29-0 halftime lead en route to a 38-12 win in a game played on the artificial turf at Chadron Sate College.
Playing on the college’s field added to the Longhorns’ excitement for the game and created a great atmosphere, Coach Dan Lenners said.
An early snowstorm covered both the Cardinals’ field and the Chadron State Eagle field. Chadron State had to clear the field for a game Saturday so the game was moved to the college.
Lenners said his team got in a good week of practice, coming off a 15-0 win over Mitchell  last week to open district play.
Plus, they had a good pregame warm-up, despite the cold.
