Longhorns leave it all on mat

Longhorn wrestlers Eli (Aaron) Hinojosa and Bryson Fisher emptied their tanks in an effort to bring home state high school wrestling titles at last weekend’s state tournament. Both advanced to the finals in their weight classes in Omaha Saturday afternoon, but, unfortunately, time ran out in both matches. Hinojosa lost his championship match, at left, by a point to Jason Hahlbeck of O’Neill, 1-0, in the 220 lb. division and Fisher came up short by two points, 7-5, at 160 lbs. After Fisher’s championship match, he receives some words of encouragement from Chase County Coaches Jeff Rusher and Matt Vlasin (hidden). Fisher and Hinojosa were among five wrestlers from Chase County at the Class C state tournament. See more on state wrestling in this week’s sports pages. (Johnson Publications photos)
