Longhorns gear up for season opener

Longhorn Head Boys’ Basketball Coach Chris Bartels is looking forward to his second year as head coach.
The Longhorns finished the season in the district sub-final last year with an 11-12 record.
Bartels described the Longhorns’ offense this season as fast.
“We’re pretty good shooters, as well. They like to get the ball up the floor quickly,” he said.
The difference is that CCS will play most of the time without a post.
“We’re more spread out, offensively. We’re really playing with five guards,” Bartels said.
Defensively, the Longhorns “do a good job of getting in the passing lanes, making easy passes tough,” Bartels added.
“Our size isn’t great, but we make up for it in athletic ability.”
After two and a half weeks of practice, they are really looking forward to playing against someone else, the coach said.
    “They’re ready,” Bartels said.
