Longhorns finish football season with 4-5 record
This year’s Longhorn football team capped off the regular season Oct. 19 with a 7-6 win over Ogallala.
The win gave the Longhorns a season record of 4-5, including wins over North Platte St. Pat’s, Holdrege, Chadron and Ogallala.
The Longhorns needed wins over Sidney and Ogallala to make the playoffs. Coming off a 12-8 come-from-behind win against Chadron, the Longhorns couldn’t repeat the result at Sidney, falling 12-14.
That loss knocked the Longhorns out of the C1 playoffs. They got to play the spoiler role in the final week with their win over Ogallala, which knocked them out of playoff consideration.
Of the Longhorns’ five losses, four of the teams advanced to playoffs in either Class B or C1. Sidney, as winner of the C1-8 District, was an automatic playoff qualifier.
