Longhorns fall to Ogallala in volleyball season opener

    There are a lot of new parts this year for the CCS Volleyball Team, including new Head Coach Cassy Moon. The team is learning a new system and at times it showed Thursday night in the Longhorn gym.
    In the first set against the Indians of Ogallala, the Longhorns kept it close. A few late unforced errors let Ogallala slip away with the first set win 19-25.
    The second set looked promising at the start, with the Longhorns jumping out to a lead early, but the Indians fought back to tie the game at 12.
    From there, it was all Ogallala, taking the second set 14-25. The Longhorns bounced back in the third set, keeping it close for the first half of the game.
    In the end, Ogallala pulled away to win the third set 17-25 and give the Longhorns their first loss of the year.
    Continuing with a brutal start to the season, the Horns traveled to McCook on Sept. 1 for a triangular with McCook and Minden, before traveling to the Lexington Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 5.
    The Longhorns will spend nearly the whole month of September on the road, with just one home game against Sedgwick County on Sept. 15.
