Longhorns fall in final regular season contest at Sutherland

The Longhorns lost their final regular-season game at Sutherland Friday, 37-47.
“We just couldn’t really get anything to go,” Head Coach Chris Bartels said.
The Longhorns have had shooting percentages from 36% to 65% all season, but against the Sailers, their shot was just 29%.
“It may have been a little bit of a wake-up call that we aren’t invincible,” Bartels said.
“But you learn from it,” he added, “and I feel like it was a good way to really get us refocused.”
The highest three-point percentage the Longhorns have had this season was 53% against Southern Valley, where against Sutherland, they only shot 15%.
“We can’t live and die on the three-point shot,” Bartels said. “We’re good at shooting threes, but on nights where we’re not making them, we’ve got to make something else happen.
One thing the Longhorns have worked on since Friday is offensive rebounds.
“We can make it happen,” Bartels added. “(If we) crash the offensive rebounds, we’ll get a second chance.”
While 16 total rebounds is good for a team, it didn’t match up to Sutherland’s 41 Friday night.
“Offensively it just felt like we assumed somebody else was going to get started.”
