Longhorns end season in district final
Despite a higher seed, the Longhorns faced tough competition in the C1-5 district final Tuesday night.
Ashland-Greenwood defeated Chase County, 54-28, sending the Bluejays to the state tournament in Lincoln next week.
The Longhorns finished their 2019-20 season with a 17-5 record, bettering their record from last year, which was 16-6.
Last year, the Longhorns went up against Grand Island Central Catholic for the district final, where they fell to the Crusaders, 68-46.
A fellow western Nebraska team will represent the area in the March 12-14 state tournament for the boys.
No. 6 Ogallala bested No. 11 Battle Creek, 76-51, Saturday in Kearney.
The brackets for the tournament were unavailable at press time.
