Jaret Peterson went 5-0, all by pin, and took first place at 220 lbs. at the Southern Valley Invite.

Longhorn wrestlers get meet in at So. Valley

Chase County’s wrestlers returned with a pair of medals from last week’s So. Valley Tournament.
Freshman Jaret Peterson pinned his way through the 220 lb. bracket to win gold, finishing the day at 5-0.
Coach Matt Vlasin said Peterson had a really good day of wrestling, with a couple matches featuring some good competition.
At 106 lbs., Arturo Miscles took third place in a bracket with just three wrestlers. Medals were awarded for first through fourth places.
Overall, Vlasin said the competition across the board Friday was tougher than expected, but felt his team didn’t wrestle their best as a group.
“We seemed a bit sluggish,” he said.
Host So. Valley had just three wrestlers in the tournament as most of their team and coaches were in COVID quarantine.        Tuesday’s triangular at CCS this week was postponed after Wauneta-Palisade cancelled classes Tuesday due to weather. WP was replacing Kimball at the double dual when Kimball had to cancel due to COVID.
Today (Thursday), three to four Longhorns will be at a JV meet in McCook which starts at 3 p.m. MT.
The entire team is expected to make the trip to Sidney Saturday for the Bridgeport/Sidney Invitational starting at 9 a.m. That will conclude the 2020 portion of the CCS schedule.
