It has been a rough start for the Longhorn Volleyball Team. After the first full week of games, the Longhorns have a record of 0-6. It’s not that they are getting blown out, they just can’t get over the hump with that first victory.
On Tuesday, Sept. 2, the Horns traveled to McCook for a triangular with Minden (7-0) and McCook (2-1). The Lady Longhorns were swept in both matches.
Against the Bison, the Horns were very competitive in the first set, but fell 22-25. In the second set, the Bison won 17-25.
It was very similar in the match against Minden. The Horns fell 21-25 in the first and 14-25 in the second.
Saturday, Sept 6, the Longhorns traveled to Lexington for an invitational tournament. The Horns had three matches on the day but were unable to generate a win.
The girls came out cold against class B Hastings (2-6), losing in two sets, 15-25 and 14-25. Things were looking up when they faced Central Valley (7-2).
The Longhorns took the first set from the Cougars 28-26, only to have the Cougars come back and win the next two, 15-25 and 17-25.
In the match against St Paul Wildcats (5-1), the Longhorns fell 17-25 and 22-25.
The Longhorns finally get to play on their home court Tuesday, Sept. 9 hosting Yuma Co. Results will appear in next week’s addition of the Imperial Republican.
