On Tuesday, Oct. 6, the Longhorns traveled to North Platte for a triangular with St. Pats, (13-9), and Southwest, (10-13). The Horns finished the night with a win and a loss.
It took three sets, but the Irish of St. Pats took the win from the Horns. Chase County had the lead in the first match, but the Irish went on a roll at the end of the game, coming back to win 22-25.
In the second set, the Horns fell behind before mounting their own run to win the set 25-19. The third set was close throughout the game, but the Irish were able to finish strong and get the win 21-25, to win the match.
In the second match against Southwest, it was all Longhorns, winning in two sets, 25-11 and 25-20.
This young Longhorn team continues to show improvement every time out. It will be interesting to see how they are playing by the end of October.
On Thursday night, Oct. 8, the Longhorns welcomed Perkins County, (12-7), for Homecoming and it was the annual pink-out game.
The Longhorns got on top early and never let up. Despite the fact the Plainsmen had the size advantage, the Longhorns had them on their heals all night, sweeping the Plainsmen, 25-14, 25-8 and 25-20, bringing the Longhorn record to 7-19.
Next up for the Horns is Bridgeport coming to town on Thursday, Oct. 15. The Bulldogs have an 11-11 record coming into the match.
On Saturday, Oct. 17, the Longhorns will host the 2026 SPVA Tournament. Games will be played in the CCS main gym and the auxiliary gym, starting at 10:00 a.m.
Come to the school Saturday and watch a lot of good volleyball and support your Longhorns in the tournament.
