Longhorn girls wrestle in Perkins County and at home

    On Tuesday, Jan. 13, the CCS Girls Wrestling Team traveled to Grant. No team scores were kept. The six Longhorn wrestlers came home with three first place finishes, one second, one third and a fifth.
    Hayley Rusher kept her undefeated season going, winning all five of her matches for a first place finish at 145 lbs. Paige Owens, first at 130 and Donna Vlasin Chavira, first at 140.

    125: Eva Ochoa Camacho was pinned by Tori Hutchinson SW, 0:18; was pinned by Payton Peterson Got, 1:34; was pinned by Jalie Barnhill OG, 1:13; was pinned by Ensley Lawless W/P, 1:12 for fifth place.

    145: Hayley Rusher won by tech-fall over Clara Denny Her, 18-3; pinned Madalinn May Mit, 1:54; pinned Addison Freiberg OG, 1:20; pinned Kassidy Cheever Mull, 1:07; won by tech-fall over Kirah Baker DCS, 20-5 for first place.
CCS Invitational
    At the home meet, five out of the six Longhorn girls received medals. Paige Owens and Haley Rusher eached finished as Champions, while Zoey Kelley and Donna Valdez Chavira placed third and Avery Cyboron finished in fourth.
    In the finals of the 155 pound class, Hayley Rusher took the win, which was also her 100th career win in high school. Her family and friends were on hand with pom poms and banners that read 100 to help commemerate the win.
    As a team, the six Longhorns finished in fifth place.
