Longhorn Girls taking three to Omaha Feb. 18 and 19

    Girls District Wrestling was held in Bayard Friday and Saturday, Feb. 7-8. The Longhorns took four girls and qualified three for the State Meet.
    Haley Rusher kept her undefeated season going, taking first place and the district champion title at 145 pounds, with her record standing at 43-0.
    Peyton Owens, 27-4, finished second at 140 pounds and Paige Owens, 39-4, was second at 125. Lizbet Mireles, 11-23, competed at 130 pounds. Mireles finished her season when she was pinned by Samantha Sprenger of Valentine in the third round of consolations.
    The girls finished in eighth place out of the 27 teams participating.

    130 Lizbet Mireles (9-8): bye, was pinned by Jenifer Banister (33-9) (G-R) 1:21, won a decision over Gianna LaPorte (12-22) (Chad) 8-3, was  pinned by Samantha Sprenger (11-10) (Val) 2:51.
    140 Peyton Owens (27-4): bye, pinned Ariel Gallegos (13-13) (SW) 2:35, pinned Kaylee Thiele (33-8) (Summl) 1:28, was pinned by Taylor Ahlman (39-4) (BC) 0:46 for second place.
    145 Haley Rusher (43-0): pinned Hanna Colglazier (3-24) (PC) 0:35, won by tech-fall over Makena Perez (11-17) (Sid) 15-0, won by tech-fall over Kirsten Heck (25-6) (G-R) 15-0, won by major decision over Carrington Uhlir (41-8) (BC) 11-1 for first place.
