Legion teams avenge earlier losses to Holdrege

    Imperial’s Legion teams were victorious in both junior and senior games Monday against Holdrege, avenging two earlier losses opening weekend.
    The juniors, whose only loss has been to Holdrege on June 21, kicked off the double-header  with an 8-5 win.
    In the nightcap, the seniors won a 6-2 game.
    After Monday’s action, the Imperial juniors are 9-1 on the season, while the seniors sport a 2-3 record.
    The teams head into their final weekend of regular season games, and all three of them are at home.
    Ogallala will be in town today (Thursday) for a junior/senior double-header starting at 4:30 p.m.
    On Saturday, Imperial will host Broken Bow for another junior/senior double-header with a start time of 12 noon.
    The regular season will conclude Sunday with a junior double-header against Hershland with first pitch at 1 p.m.
    Separate junior and senior league tournaments are scheduled this month.
    The juniors will play their tournament July 16-19, followed by the east/west championship game on July 22.
    The seniors’ tourney is set for July 26-29, with the east/west championship game on July 31.
    There are no district or state Legion-sponsored tournaments scheduled this year due to COVID-19.
