Lady Longhorns stand 3-3 at break; holiday tourney next

A split outcome in games last week leaves the Lady Longhorn record even at 3-3 as they take off a few days for the Christmas break and NSAA moratorium.
In action last week, Chase County overwhelmed Sutherland, their first look at an SPVA Conference opponent, and lost to state-ranked Wray, Colorado on the road Friday.
The break will leave nearly two weeks without a game, as Chase County now looks to the Cabela’s Holiday Shootout Tournament in Sidney Dec. 27-29.
While the long break is a bit concerning to Coach Mark Bottom, it may also help the team heal up a bit and get over some sickness.
“We are still fighting some sickness and are banged up a bit,” he said.
Leading scorer Mallie McNair has been dealing with shin splints, and post player Allison Owings is still recovering from an ankle sprain.
Sophie Spady has been dealing with illness, too, along with several younger players, he said.
