Lady Longhorns end regular season with Dundy Co. Stratton win

Friday’s Dundy Co. Stratton meet marked the last regular season meet for Chase County’s girls.
And, by well over 100 points, they clinched the season without a meet loss.
Weather was ideal for Friday’s meet in Benkelman, which saw the team set 10 personal records (PRs) and season’s bests.
Topping that list of the day’s highlights was the first place pole vault performance of senior Peyton Fiedler. She broke both the meet and Chase County Schools’ records with her vault of 10’8”.
That moved Fiedler into fourth place of all Class C pole vaulters. Overall, Coach Troy Hauxwell said Fiedler had a pretty good day with two other firsts in the 100 meter hurdles and as part of the 400 relay team, and a third place in the 300 meter hurdles.
Mallie McNair claimed gold in the 400, shattering her previous best of 59.96 in this year’s first meet with a gold medal finish Friday in 59.48. She also won the 800.
In a strong Class C again this year, her times in those two events have her with the fifth fastest times in the class as the team heads to districts this week.
Another standout performance Friday came from senior Andrea Page, who won the discus with a PR of 122’9”. Teammate Allison Owings finished in second, and both throwers medaled in the shot put with Owings picking up gold.
“That was good to see from Andrea,” Hauxwell said, noting she improved about three feet on her discus throw.
Other golds earned by the Lady Longhorns Friday in Benkelman were Adelaide Maxwell in the 200, Kaley Hauxwell in the 3200 and all three relays.
Chase County placed in every event but one. In four of the individual events, all three Lady Longhorns scored.
    Team scoring was Chase Co. 194, Atwood-Rawlins Co. 82.5, Dundy Co. Stratton 81, Decatur Community 67.5, Maywood-Hayes Center 63, Wauneta-Palisade 46, Perkins Co. 43, So. Platte 42, Wallace 26 and Cheylin 17.
