Chase County takes 18-3 record into district final game Friday

Friday’s C1-8 district title game in Kearney has a bit of a deja vu to it.
After Chase County breezed through its C1-11 subdistrict last week, they advanced to the district final against the same team on the same floor as in the 2019 district contest.
Chase County will go up against Wahoo at Kearney High School with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. CT.
But this year, Chase County has the better record and a higher seed.
The Lady Longhorns take an 18-3 record into Friday’s game, and are sitting No. 8 in power points.
Wahoo, at 17-7, sits right below in the No. 9 spot in the point standings.
Chase County will be the home team in Friday’s battle, whose winner will be one of eight headed to Lincoln for the state tournament March 5-7.
Coach Randy Longoria is prepared to face Wahoo.
He said he’s watched about nine hours worth of film on Wahoo this season, and is ready to focus on them at practice this week.
He said Chase County and Wahoo are different teams, but both have had some similar ups and downs this season.
“It’s down to 16 teams now and all of them can perform. (The winners) will be those who can outshine the others,” he said.
Longoria said they will prepare to face man, box and one and combination defenses from Wahoo.
