Lady Broncos take win over Dundy County Stratton

    Everything was working for the Wauneta-Palisade girls’ basketball team Dec. 21 when the Broncos hosted Dundy County Stratton.
    Chloe Stehno, GraCee Goings, Alexa Sandman and Peyton Cox each scored at least five first quarter points as the Broncos jumped out to a 22-5 lead.
    Sandman went off for 13 points in the second quarter to help the Broncos extend their lead to 44-17.
    Things continued to go right for WP in the second half.
    Cali Cox kicked off the half with a three pointer and Sandman scored 10 points in the third quarter.
    In three quarters of action, Sandman totaled 29 points.
    The Broncos made 6-8 from the charity stripe in the third quarter as they increased their advantage to 67-21.
    Eleven players took to the floor for WP in the fourth quarter. Another three pointer by C. Cox and two two-point field goals finished off scoring for the Broncos.
    Besides Sandman, also finishing in double figures was P. Cox with 15 points, Goings with 11 and C. Cox with 10.
Up next
    The Broncos played in the Arapahoe Holiday Tournament Monday and Tuesday.
    WP lost its opener to Blue Hill 33-45 and played Arapahoe Tuesday in a rematch of a Cattle Trail Tournament game that WP won.
    WP returns to action Jan. 7 at Hitchcock County (2-5) before hosting Southwest (4-4) Jan. 8.
