Klooz qualifies for state golf meet

Longhorn senior Karsen Klooz will cap off a successful golf season with a trip to next week’s Class C state golf tournament.
Klooz finished sixth at the C-5 district golf meet Monday held at Cambridge’s Cross Links Golf Course.
The Longhorns played in the Cambridge meet earlier this season, knowing that’s where the district meet would be held.
Klooz shot a six-over 42 on the outward nine and came back with the same score on the inward nine to finish with an 84 on the par 72 course to claim sixth outright.
Cambridge’s Preston Carbaugh shot a one-over 73 on his home course to take medalist honors in the meet.
In the competition that included 13 teams, Kimball came out on top with a total score of 355. Perkins County took second with a 371 and Valentine rounded out the state qualifiers with a 385.
