Imperial soccer teams battle spring weather

The Imperial soccer teams started practice on March 18 but have not had much game time due to unpredictable spring weather.
“We played a few weeks ago in the fog and rain but didn’t the next week because there was snow on the ground,” organizer Abby McNair said.
There are 22 Imperial teams with ages ranging from kindergarten to senior high.
“There are a few teams from Grant in the younger division that come down and play on Saturday mornings,” McNair said.
McNair praised the volunteer coaches.
“It’s a big commitment for seven weeks,” she said.
The junior-senior high school team is the only team that travels, going to games in Grant and Ogallala.
The last games will be on May 4.
