Imperial Juniors win over Cozad, drop one to McCook

Six runs in the second inning led Imperial Longhorns Juniors past Cozad Reds Varsity, 10-2, on Saturday. Mason Nordhausen, Trevor Peterson, Austin Laird, Brit Gockley and Braxton Mckinney all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
In the first inning, Imperial got their offense started. Peterson drove in one when he doubled.
Imperial scored six runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Nordhausen, Peterson, Laird, Gockley and Mckinney, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Peterson led things off on the hill. He surrendered one run on two hits over five innings, striking out nine.
Evan Thome led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Cozad. He lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and ten runs while striking out five.
Peterson led Imperial with two hits in four at bats.
Imperial was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Ryan Bernhardt had the most chances in the field with ten.
McCook loss
Imperial Longhorns Juniors watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 4-21 loss to McCook FCB Juniors last week.
