Imperial 2 tacks on wins against Ogallala 2, 3
Imperial 2 had two big wins last week against two solid Ogallala pee wee teams.
Despite allowing five runs in the fourth inning, Imperial 2 defeated Ogallala 3, 17-6 last Wednesday.
The base paths were crowded in the high-scoring game.
Imperial 2 collected nine hits and Ogallala 3 had five.
Imperial 2 fired up the offense in the first inning when Thomas Reeves doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.
Imperial 2 scored seven runs in the second inning. Camron Lempke, Tristan Jablonski, Reeves, Luis Co and Parker Terryberry powered the big inning with RBIs.
Lempke was Imperial’s winning pitcher. He allowed two hits and one run over two innings, striking out five and walking one.
Kaden Vogt and Jablonski entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game.
Vogt recorded the last five outs to earn the save for Imperial 2.
Imperial 2 scattered nine hits in the game. Lempke, Jablonski and Reeves each managed two hits to lead Imperial 2.
“These boys are really starting to work well together as a team,” head coach Jeff Lempke said. “I am proud of their continuous effort and dedication.”
Imperial 2 snagged a late lead and defeated Ogallala 2, 9-7 on Friday.
The game was tied at seven with Imperial 2 batting in the top of the fifth when Kole Clevenger and Lempke reached base on walks. Clevenger scored on a passed ball and Reeves hit a double scoring Lempke to take a 9-7 lead.
Reeves started the game for Imperial 2. He surrendered five runs on three hits over two innings, striking out six and walking five.
Lempke led Imperial 2 to victory on the mound. He allowed two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out eight and walking zero.
Reeves and Gavin Wisnieski each managed one hit to lead Imperial 2.
“We struggled hitting the ball but took advantage of getting walked 16 times and running the bases very well to score runs,” Coach Lempke said.
