Imperial 2 Peewees fall to Ogallala 1, beat Ogallala 2

Imperial 2 lost a tough battle to Ogallala 1 on the road last Wednesday, but beat Ogallala 2 at home on Friday.

Imperial 2 fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 12-4 loss at Ogallala 1 June 19.
Imperial 2 struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Ogallala 1, giving up 12 runs on eight hits.
Ogallala scored three runs in the first inning and two runs in the second, taking a 5-0 lead.
Imperial scored three runs in the third inning.
Carson Terryberry singled, scoring one run and Luis Co reached base safely, scoring Terryberry.
Parker Terryberry reached base on a walk in the fourth inning and stole his way to third base, scoring Imperial’s final run.
Gavin Wisnieski started the game for Imperial. He surrendered eight runs on seven hits over two innings, striking out one and walking one.
Camron Lempke and Tristan Jablonski entered the game on relief, throwing two and a third innings and one inning, respectively.
Together they gave up one run, one hit, one walk, and struck out three.
Carson Terryberry went 1-2 at the plate to lead Imperial in hits.
“We struggled hitting the ball,” Head Coach Jeff Lempke said, “but managed to get on base mostly by walks and errors.
“Ogallala was a good hitting team and we struggled fielding the ball cleanly and committed too many errors,” Coach Lempke added. “I thought our pitchers did well throwing strikes, but we couldn’t get the easy outs when we had the chances.”

Imperial had no trouble on offense Friday night, defeating Ogallala 2, 7-1.
Imperial got things moving in the first inning, when Jablonski singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. He later scored on a passed ball.
Imperial left Ogallala scoreless after the first two innings, leading 3-0.
Imperial tallied three more runs in the fourth inning with key hits by Jablonski and Co that drove in runs.
Imperial scored their final run in the fifth inning off a bunt single by Lempke that scored Westyn Mendenhall.
Lempke started the game for Imperial. He surrendered no runs on two hits over two innings, striking out one and walking one.
Jablonski earned the win. He surrendered one run on five hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking five.
Wisnieski threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. He recorded the last out to earn the save for Imperial.
Imperial tallied seven hits on the day. Lempke and Jablonski each collected two hits to lead Imperial. Parker Terryberry, Thomas Reeves and Co all collected one a piece.
“I thought the kids did a great job on both sides of the ball,” Coach Lempke said.
“Our outfielders did a wonderful job running down balls and making great plays.”

Imperial 2 played Hershey at home on Wednesday and will host Wallace on Friday.
